Do you ever feel like you need someone to tell you what to do daily in your business? If your answer is yes, you’re not alone. Many business owners find that they are often overwhelmed and not sure from one day to the next how they should be managing their business.
So, what’s the solution? Well, one thing that really helps me is my Daily Operations Plan. You know, it’s a written blue-print on how you’re going to manage your business on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
A Daily Operations Plan not only helps to serve as your guide in managing your business, but it also helps you to stay current and consistent with important tasks!
Here’s a quick run down on what you’ll need:
- Purchase a 3-ring notebook and Avery 5-tab dividers
- Label each tab: 1) Notes/Planning; 2) Daily, Weekly, Monthly, & Quarterly Tasks; 3) Operational Procedures; 4) Marketing and 5) Bookkeeping/Finances
- Make a general list of task that must be done daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly. After you brainstorm, create a word processed document that you can insert under tab #2.
- Your Operational Procedures under Tab #3 can consist of the following information:
- Marketing & Sales
- Document Templates
- Marketing Materials
- Client Information Needed
- Sales Scripts
- Industry Research
- Customer Service Policy
- Refund Request
- Follow Up System
- Procedures for following up with sales inquiries, prospects, leads etc.
- Marketing & Sales
- Place your marketing plan or strategy under Tab #4 and ensure that your action items have been implemented in your Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly list.
- Next, decide who will complete the tasks. Will it be you or will you delegate it? If you’re doing it, schedule the tasks in your calendar and make sure you break down the tasks to prevent in-completion. If you’re delegating it, remember to give the person you’re delegating to a deadline, along with setting up scheduled follow up calls depending on the length and time it will take to complete each task.
- Again, make a list of business specific areas that need your attention frequently.
- Under each of your business specific areas, list your plan for carrying out each of the functions and ensure that these tasks have been included in the list under tab #2.
Pulling together the above information and assembling it in a binder can help you to better manage the operations of your business and give you more clarity on a daily basis!
